Initially conceived by John while watching TV. He came up with a doom metal riff in the vein of legendary American doom band Saint Vitus while watching a vitamin commercial and so called the song Vitamin Vitus. Ben didn't like that name very much so compromised with Doom Odyssey. Seeing as the song wasn't 20 minutes long it could hardly be considered an odyssey so it was again renamed based on an email of Kevin's where he pointed out the phrase Vanish Into the Ether.
