I'm Gonna Bury You Deeeeeep

from Below the Narrows by Granite Waves

/

about

The lyrics for this song were inspired by an anthropology adventure book 'Serpent and the Rainbow' which is about Haitian zombi rituals and the effect they have on the underground culture of Haiti. The riff was initially written by Kevin on bass as a 20 minute jam inspired by Al Cisneros' bass/drums trance doom band Om. The song took shape over a year before becoming this version.

lyrics

underneath the screaming machines
where your doomed voice will drown in noise
and thundering silence
follows you into the grave
phoenix desire descends upon zombi eyes

the people chose the transformation begins
bury them deep
bury them deep
and rise again

but in the end you will be buried deep
despite all hope towards reformation
and so you will go down six feet below
this time the people choose no

the people chose the transformation begins
bury them deep
bury them deep
and rise again
